Kendal Town scored their second pre-season win when they came from behind to beat Dalton United 4-1 last night.
The home side had gone in front inside 15 minutes with a goal from Brennan Molyneux before the Mintcakes came back to level just before the break.
Kendal had dominated possession but Dalton were stubborn opponents, defending stoutly until the 43rd minute when Matt Dudley let one go from just outside the area to pull his side level.
Four minutes into the second-half and Kendal went in front when Jim Craig was on hand to side-foot calmly past the home keeper.
Soon afterwards James Bailey should have added to the lead but from just a few yards out he lifted a cross from Ben Thomas over the bar.
After a trialist had seen a very good header well saved by the Dalton keeper, Kendal scored their third on 62 minutes when some clever build-up play ended with Craig calmly finishing from close in again.
The final goal on 77 minutes was another thundering effort like Dudley’s first. This time it was Bailey Kenny who found the top corner from 25 yards.
It was another encouraging performance from the Mintcakes who now prepare for Saturday’s home fixture against Morecambe (kick-off 2pm).
