
A new season of concerts by Royal Northern Sinfonia and visiting artists have been announced for Carlisle.
At Carlisle Sands Centre’s sports hall, kicking off the season is Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Domingo Hindoyal, playing Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony, on Friday September 27.
Adding European flair, Craig Ogden plays Rodrigo on Friday October 11. Guitar Concerto, the Concerto de Aranjuez, will take audiences from an autumnal Carlisle to the heat of the Mediterranean sun, enjoying the sights and sounds of yesteryear Spain.
Feel the great outdoors with Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony conducted by Thomas Zehetmair on Saturday November 9.
Royal Northern Sinfonia returns to illuminate St Cuthbert’s Church on Thursday November 28, with Royal Northern Sinfonia by Candlelight, directed by Maria Włoszczowska – the orchestra’s newly appointed artistic partner.
Bach’s Violin Concertos, led by Maria Włoszczowska on Sunday March 23, showcase timeless compositions that continue to resonate with modern audiences.
Mozart’s Violin Concerto, on Sunday April 13 is one of those pieces that instantly captivates audiences.
‘Stinking music’ was how one Brahms-loving critic described Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, but audiences don’t agree. On Saturday May 24, violist Inmo Yang and
the BBC Philharmonic led by Martyn Brabbins will perform the cheerful piece to end the season.
