A major Carlisle street has been closed to pedestrians due to safety concerns.
Part of the pavement on Lowther Street has begun to give way – Cumberland Council said it related to issues with a cellar on the street.
It said: “We have had to temporarily closed the footpath. As a result, the bus stop at this location is also closed.

“For your safety, please do not attempt to bypass the barriers.
“The VPZ Vape Shop remains open, with the fencing adjusted to allow access.
“We are working closely with the property owner so that they can resolve this issue as quickly as possible, but the footpath may be closed for some time.
“Thank you for your understanding and co-operation.”
