The very wonderful Illyria Theatre Company is returning to Lowther Castle once again this August with a production of The Adventures of Dr Dolittle.

It will be performed on Wednesday August 14.

The play, written by Hugh Lofting, is a delightful classic and involves a small cast of actors and lots of music.

Seasoned outdoor theatregoers will know that these productions are really fun – family-friendly, highly entertaining, beautifully staged against the backdrop of the castle ruins.

Tickets from £10 for a child to £50 for a family of four.

The event is being held in aid of the Calvert Trust and theatre tickets will include free entry to the castle and gardens on the day of the performance only.

Bring your own picnics, chairs, smiles and conceivably wellies.

Gates open at 5pm and the play starts at 5.30pm prompt.

Snacks, ice-cream, drinks will be on sale in the courtyard.
