What comes round, goes round – or so they say in football as in life.
Penrith were denied by a late goal in the FA Cup last week as Crook Town progressed at Frenchfield and left Darren Edmondson and his side gutted.
Not quite as late, in the 83rd minute, but Penrith grabbed their second goal to turn round a 1-0 half-time deficit to win 2-1 at Ilkley Town.
Penrith can now look forward to a home tie on September 21 against North West Counties side Padiham who won 2-1 at Thornaby yesterday.
Ilkley had taken the lead on 34 minutes when Toby Marriott did well to dispossess a Penrith defender and fire across Aaran Taylor into the far corner.
Penrith gradually built-up pressure in the second half and got back on terms after 73 minutes when Martyn Coleman latched onto a throw-in to the box and finished powerfully.
It would have been straight to penalties if all square at the end but Penrith won it on 83 minutes when Lewis Moore fired home after an original effort at goal had been blocked.
Before Edmondson can think about entertaining Padiham he has a few League games to tackle, starting with Tuesday’s county derby with Kendal at Frenchfield.
