West Cumbria’s marathon man Gary McKee ran 100 miles in 24 hours in memory of his friend and raised £15,000 for charity.
Gary’s challenge took place in Cleator Moor on Saturday and Sunday as a tribute to Brian Telford. Gary was raising cash for Hospice at Home West Cumbria.
A number of events took place during the 24 hours to support Gary’s challenge.
Gary said today on social media: “An appreciation post from me to say thanks to everyone who supported my 100-mile run.
“I hope I don’t miss anyone (and I probably will) but a special mention to the girls who organised everything, Nina, Amy, Katherine and Vanessa, Elwyn and Michael, Dave at Candy Cabs, Lakeland Lights, Hunger Hero, Janet at Bills Brews, Wath Brow Hornets gym, The Crown, runners and riders, bakers, prize givers, everyone who bought tickets and the magnificent team at Hospice at Home West Cumbria.”
Brian was a long-standing fan of Wath Brow Hornets and was a committee member, fundraiser and sponsor.
Gary completed his 100 miles by running 12.5-mile loops every three hours, returning to and setting off from St John’s in the Hall.
