
One of the best starts made by one of Cumbria’s non-league sides this season has been that of Windscale in the Wearside League.
Their 2-0 victory over Darlington RA last Wednesday was their fifth of the season and pushed them up to third in the Premier Division table.
They didn’t have a game at the week-end and results elsewhere mean they are now sitting fourth ahead of tonight’s home fixture against Farringdon Detached who are some nine points behind the Cumbrians from the same number of games.
Windscale go into the game just a point behind leaders Easington Lane, who have played a game less.
Manager Stephen Fawcett expects this year’s title race to be a close one with several contenders – as most of the big hitters have moved up in recent years.
