With their fourth game in 10 days, a mid-week trip to face Blackpool, Penrith continued their flying start to the new ladies season.
They produced a ruthless first half performance that saw them 6-1 up at the half time break and although they didn’t score in the second-half they emerged with a 6-3 victory.
Abbie Forster and Elli Gallacher had both gone close in the early stages before Kayleigh Wharton kept her cool and produced a good finish to give Penrith the lead.
Kim McCormick and Charlotte Smith extended the lead before Forster scored in her fourth consecutive game to give Penrith a 4-0 lead.
Blackpool pulled one back from a corner but Penrith kicked on, and good play out wide from Jodie English saw the ball crossed to Kerri Mallison who scored her first goal of the season on her return to the club.
Heather Fawkes continued her good goal scoring run to make it six at the break .
Blackpool rallied in the second half and with a bit of tiredness creeping into the Penrith legs they got the score back to 6-3, but the Cumbrians comfortably saw-out the game and picked up the three points that see them sitting top of the league table at this early stage.
Penrith now look forward to an FA Cup tie against Carlisle United at the Frenchfield Stadium this Sunday.
