The family of a man who died following a collision in Barrow have paid tribute to the father-of-two.

James Scott Coates, 39, known as Scott, died following the collision in Park Road at about 10.30pm on August 20.

In a statement, his family said: “Our beloved Scott, partner of Aimee and precious son of Tracey and the late Geoff.

“Loving and devoted dad to James and Zak, brother of Danielle and uncle.

“We are all heartbroken. Rest in peace. We will miss you forever Scotty boy and Daddy.”

The collision involved two vehicles – a van and a car, driven by Mr Coates.

The driver of the van was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Police thanked all those witnesses who came forward following the collision and at the time and continue to appeal to anyone who was in the area or has relevant dashcam footage to come forward.

Anyone with information can report online via www.cumbria.police.uk/report-it – quoting log 246 of August 20 or call on 101.
