Tuesday night saw the second of the series of trails at Lowick before the final meeting on Saturday which is incorporated into Lowick Show.

Huntsman’s Rebel was back out running, only one point behind the two leaders in Rodney Raider and Silver Drfam. She was the favourite following her impressive win last time round.

It was a small field on just seven runners and out on the fell it was a good race between Huntsman’s Rebel and Huntsman’s Quartz who was in close contention. Jenny’s Oracle was third followed by Miterdale Honesty.

As they came onto the finish it was Huntsman’s Rebel who had pulled away to cross the line a clear winner. She was followed by Huntsman’s Quartz in second for Ian Donaldson with Miterdale Honesty moving up into third place for Katie and Sophie Steele.

Jenny’s Oracle for Glenis and Raymond Farren was in fourth place with Tom and Ryan Bell’s Ron in fifth. Kinniside Bobby took the last ticket having stepped up into the long race.

The win for Huntsman’s Rebel and Denise’s team moves her up to top of the table, although she matches the other two hounds with ten wins, she has more second place tickets compared to the other two.

Next to slip were the open pups with again a small field of nine runners. Huntsman’s Time was narrowly beat last time by the inform Minnie Million who was running again. Connections of both were looking for good runs from their charges.

As they crossed the last road it was Snowfell and Huntsman’s Time that were leading with Miterdale Rumble and Baroness Ava close behind. Minnie Million only crossed in seventh place.

Once on the finish it was Baroness Ava that came through to take the win for James and Ava McClelland with Huntsman’s Time finishing in second place for Denise and Co. Miterdale Rumble was third for Sophie Steele with Christine Brownlee’s Maeve finishing in fourth place.

Minnie Million had moved up to fifth, just slightly off the pace compared to recent runs, with Miterdale Rambler finishing in sixth. Snowfell was disqualified for allegedly interfering on the finish.

The Open Restricted trail was next with seven runners and Malia, for Christine Brownlee, finished in first place, winning easily from The Lyon families Black Eyed Shadow.

Sophie Steel and Roy Laidler’s Kirkhead Rebel finished in third place with Brian and Joy Lister’s Dream Catcher  in fourth place.

Hawkswood waas the last hound to finish the race in fifth place for Denis Pear and Jackie Gill.

The win for Christine’s Malia now moves her to the top of the Open Restricted points competition, six points clear of the long-time leader Thorn Pop.

Trailing tonight moves to Cold Fell with a four race card, the first trail starting at 6pm.
