
A man who broke into a Carlisle home and stole a laptop, handbag and two picture frames, has been jailed.
Steven Robson, 60, of no fixed abode, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court was sentenced to three years and seven months for burglary and theft.
The court heard on August 6 this year in the early hours Robson entered the victims address on Wetheral Street and stole the items.
The victim woke up that morning and realised their property had been burgled. Police found a footwear impression on a windowsill.
During CCTV enquiries footage found in the area, a man was identified as wearing a grey jacket with hood on, grey tracksuit bottoms and trainers and was looking through a window of a house in the area using a torch at the time of the offence.
An officer recognised Robson from the CCTV and enquires were carried out to locate him.
Robson was located and he was arrested. Officers located the property taken and clothing matching that worn by Robson on CCTV.
PC Ryan Thwaite, of Cumberland CID, said: “CCTV showed Robson peering through a window of a property on Dalston Road on the night of the offence, following his arrest we seized clothing from him which matched that seen in the CCTV.
“Robson also accepted he knew that a laptop seized from him was stolen but gave no further comment.”
