
Fellview Healthcare will only be offering urgent or emergency appointments at the moment.
The service, which operates from Egremont, Cleator Moor and Whitehaven, said: “Colleagues at Fellview have been affected by a tragic event.
“As a result we are not be able to provide the level of service we would like to and therefore ask that patients only contact the surgery if it is an emergency. We ask that you continue to be patient and kind to staff at this very difficult time.”
Leigha Cartmell works at Fellview Healthcare. Her son Jay, eight, was killed following an incident at a Cumbrian farm over the weekend.
Jay, of Frizington, died after sustaining serious head injuries in an incident on land not far from the A66, north of Warcop.
A 60-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter. He has been bailed.
Fellview Healthcare said due to the situation, the eConsult service is closed and it is unlikely it will be available tomorrow, Wednesday October 2. It said it would be reviewed daily.
It added: “If your situation is an emergency you are still able to telephone the reception team who will endeavour to help you the best way they can.
“We thank you for your patience and understanding at this difficult time.
“Anne Thompson, Dr Carrington, the GPs and all staff at Fellview send deepest and heartfelt condolences to their colleague Leigha and her husband James at this difficult time of the tragic loss of their son Jay.”
