A 3-0 defeat at Fleetwood ended Barrow’s involvement in the EFL Trophy but manager Stephen Clemence got to see more of his squad in action.

Clemence made seven changes from Saturday’s win over Cheltenham and the Bluebirds were close to a flying start when Neo Eccleston had a header hooked off the line.

Two goals from Kian Harratt gave Fleetwood a 2-0 half-time lead and for the second-half Clemence replaced Chris Stokes, Sam Foley, and Ged Garner by Theo Vassell, Kian Spence, and Emile Acquah.

Barrow did have opportunities but Fleetwood clinched the tie near the end with a glorious strike from Pele Smith.

Bluebirds XI: Stanway, Eccleston, Dallas, Garner (Acquah 46), Stokes (Vassell 46), Foley, (Spence 46), Kouyate (Newby 73), Telford, Feely (Ogungbo 61), Tiensia, Weston.
