Oxenholme and Carlisle railway stations are in a battle to be named among the best in the North West – and need your vote.

People are asked to vote on Wednesday, October 16, for their favourite station as 48 railway stations across Britain go head-to-head to claim the title of Station with the Best Local Businesses.

This year’s competition – the World Cup of Stations – aims to showcase the best stations in the country which have amazing local businesses either in their station or the surrounding area.

Hosted by Rail Delivery Group, the winner will be announced on October 22.

Carlisle, Oxenholme, Manchester Victoria and Maghull are the finalists in the North West heat.

Carlisle has been nominated for Pie Demand, which offers traditional flavours with a modern twist, using freshest ingredients, each pie is handcrafted in small batches.

Oxenholme has been nominated for the nearby David Willan Food Hall.

Rail Delivery Group said: “Train passengers in North West are making a difference by spending on average £28 in towns and cities from which they depart and £7 per journey on independent businesses.”
