Cockfrock – Cockermouth’s popular fashion shopping extravaganza – is back with another special pre-Christmas event.
An annual two-day sale of pre-loved, good quality ladies fashion usually takes place at the town’s Kirkgate Centre each spring.
However, with Christmas not far away, organisers have once again decided to stage an autumn event this weekend to allow people to grab a bargain in time for the festive season!
The event again offers opportunities for local people to find a buyer for items they no longer wear.
Anyone can sell their clothes and all sellers receive 70% of the sale price with the remaining 30% going towards fundraising for the Kirkgate Centre.
The event takes place on Saturday, October 19, and Sunday, October 20. It will be open from 10.30am to 6pm on Saturday and 10am to 1pm on Sunday.
Entry to each session is free and, on Sunday, a sale will take place that means many articles will be even more of a bargain than usual.
Kirkgate Centre general manager Emma Heys said: “We’re delighted to once again play host to a special autumn staging of Cockfrock. It has become a big part of the town’s events calendar and many people look forward to it.
“Re-selling pre-loved clothes makes such a lot of sense, both in environmental and financial terms, and whilst all of the sales slots are now taken up, we’re looking forward to another bumper fun weekend for the town.
“We’ve been delighted with the way the town has taken Cockfrock to its heart and the format proved equally successful recently when our Kirk Kit weekend offered people the chance to sell unwanted outdoor clothes and equipment.
“That too was a big success and we hope that this tried and tested formula of upcycling pre-loved goods continues to prove popular.”
