Workington Town Ladies are already looking ahead to next season following their promotion to League One.
Assistant coach Gareth Nicholson said he and coach Steve Caton will be sitting down with Town management in a few weeks to discuss plans for 2025.
The Ladies rounded-off a fine season by winning the League Play-off final against Orrell St James at Featherstone to complete a treble.
One of the topics of conversation will be the formation of a Development team to provide a pathway for the younger age group coming through in the area to make the Ladies team in League competition.
Town Ladies now have 44 players registered – quite considerable progress when they approached the current season with just four!
Fifteen players joined the squad who had never played the game before and they featured in Sunday’s win over Orrell St James.
“It’s great because we have had all the help we needed, and more, from Town and it’s a club where everyone is pulling together,” Nicholson told Cumbria Crack’s John Walsh.
“We are letting the dust settle after Sunday, waiting a couple of weeks maybe and then we will sit down with Town and talk about the way forward,” he added.
Rugby League for women in the UK has four main tiers – Super League, Championship, League One and League Two – so Town will now play at the third tier. South Cumbrian neighbours Barrow are in Super League.
