Greggs has opened a new and larger store in Egremont.

The bakery chain has officially opened its new store today after moving out of its previous location at 42 Main Street.

It’s new store has opened in a larger unit across the main road which was formerly the town’s old McColls store.

McColl’s, which also housed the old post office, had been vacant since the convenience store fell into administration in 2022.

The new bakery also has a large amount of indoor seating and extended opening hours from 5am until 6pm from Monday to Saturday and 7am until 4pm on Sundays.

The shop is set to stock all the chain’s staple pastries, as well as offering breakfast, hot food and a range of hot and cold drinks.

Over ice drinks including cloudy lemonade and an iced mocha will also be served – which are only available in limited shops across the UK.

Gillian Long, retail operations director for Greggs, said: “We’re excited to be welcoming customers to our new and improved shop in Egremont. We look forward to providing customers with a modern, convenient new place to experience their Greggs favourites.”

The chain added that future job opportunities may be available at the store.
