Reports are coming in that the M6 has reopened following an incident on Sunday.

Emergency services were called to the incident on the southbound carriageway yesterday, Saturday October 26, at around 9.40pm.

The road was closed between junctions 39 at Shap and 36 at Kirkby Lonsdale, while police carried out enquiries.

Yesterday morning, Sunday October 27, two lanes remain closed but it is understood that all lanes have now reopened, at 11.40am.

Police are appealing for witnesses following a single vehicle collision on the M6.

Officers were called after reports of the collision on the M6 between junction 37 and junction 36 southbound.

The collision involved a blue Mercedes GLC.

The passenger was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The motorway was temporarily closed while a forensic collision investigation was carried out.

Anybody who witnessed the collision is asked to call 101 and speak to PC2462 Alun Masters or PS1929 Martin Bainbridge quoting log 248 of 26 October 2024.
