Workington Reds should have a new face and an old one in their squad for this afternoon’s NPL Premier Division game at Gainsborough Trinity.
Provided the paperwork is in order, Theo Farquharson will be joining Reds for their assignment against a side buoyant after a 2-0 win at Whitby Town on Tuesday night.
Farquharson was with both Manchester clubs, City and United as a kid, as well as Burnley and in youth football played at Oldham Athletic and Stockport County.
After a brief stint in Portugal, on his return he has had spells with AFC Blackpool, FC United of Manchester, Ossett United, Bromsgrove, Ramsbottom United and, more recently, Warrington Town and City of Liverpool.
Farquharson has been training with the Reds and he said: “I’m really excited to be joining the club, I am already enjoying my football here. There is a great feeling of togetherness and drive from the management staff and players.
“Everyone has made me feel welcome and it’s definitely an environment which will be beneficial for my progression and performance. Can’t wait get some more games under my belt and build on my performances each week with the club.”
Farquharson is the new face in the Reds squad – the old returning face is that of popular defender Matty Clarke, signed for the second time by Mark Fell.
After leaving Lancaster City towards the end of last season Clarke has been playing for Clitheroe and has appeared 12 times for them this season.
Gainsborough is the first of three successive away games with FC United of Manchester and Mickleover to follow before leaders Macclesfield visit Borough Park at the end of the month.
