Emergency services are currently responding to a multiple-vehicle collision on the A595 at Bothel.
The road is currently blocked and drivers are asked to avoid the area.
It’s being reported that up to 15 vehicles were involved, but that has not been confirmed.
Villagers are being asked to take people involved in the collision in.
Cumbria police said: “Road conditions in parts of the county remain difficult due to snow and ice. Only travel if necessary.”
On Monday, January 6, it is believed the road is open and passable with care.
