A holiday firm said bookings for the Lake District were booming as it revealed its top 10 getaway hotspots.
Sykes Holiday Cottages said while Whitby was the number one destination for customers during the winter, Lake District locations remained popular – with six appearing on the list.
Ambleside, Bowness, Keswick, Grasmere, Troutbeck Bridge and Windermere are all proving a hit with holidaymakers.
Last year, Cumbria was also named as the second highest earning region for holiday lets in Sykes’ Holiday Letting Outlook Report, with holiday let owners earning on average £28,200 a year.
James Shaw, managing director of Sykes Holiday Cottages, said: “While Cumbria is known for drawing holidaymakers to its rolling countryside each summer, its popularity this winter shows the enduring appeal of it – even during the colder months – making it a strong choice for those who want a consistent income from letting.
“Making the most of every season is key to a successful holiday letting experience, helping to maximise annual revenues which is now more important than ever. Those with properties in Cumbria will no doubt benefit from the influx of bookings coming their way this winter.
“Location isn’t the only factor though, and adding features to properties can also ensure your holiday let has year-round appeal – whether that be a hot tub, accepting short term stays and pets, or promoting nearby attractions that guests can enjoy come rain or shine.”
