WH Smith in talks to sell high street stores

It has been revealed that WH Smith is in talks to sell off its high street stores.

The firm confirmed today that it was exploring strategic options, including a possible sale.

It has several branches in Cumbria, including Workington, Penrith, Kendal, Windermere, Whitehaven, Kendal and Carlisle, and in total, operates over 1,200 stores in 32 countries.

The BBC reported that WH Smith said there was no certainty that any agreement would be reached, but the firm would provide updates.

In November, Toys”R”Us opened a concession in Carlisle’s WH Smith store.
