
Round 12 of the L&L Property Contractors Snooker League delivered some intense action this week, with Division 1 and Division 2 teams pushing for crucial points as the league tables tighten.
In a high-profile all Division 1 encounter, Workington’s United Club A delivered a statement performance by securing a 3-2 away victory over league leaders Station Road.
The match begun with Tom Thompson giving the home side the perfect start, defeating Dave Chapman convincingly 57-15. However, United Club A responded in ruthless fashion, as Peter O’Hagan produced a sensational performance, thrashing Kevin Kirkham 78-15 to level the match.
In the third John Teasdale edged a scrappy encounter against United A’s Clive Lister 51-36, before Mark Suitor produced a solid 49-14 win over Chris Hunter to take the game to a decider. In the final frame Andrew Mitchelhill, held his nerve to clear with a break of 47 to deliver a narrow 51-32 victory over Darren Lawson for a satisfying United A victory.
United Club A sit second in Division 1 on 36 points, setting up a thrilling title race.
Station Road suffer only their second defeat of the season but still lead the league on 38 points.

In a fiercely contested Division 1 vs Division 2 match, Workington Golf Club secured a 3-2 home win over Workington’s Veterans Club B.
Mark Brasted started strongly for the Golf Club, delivering a 58-12 win over Jordan Ferguson. However, Simon Tootle hit back for Vets B, grinding out a 59-21 victory against Brian Walker.
The crucial moment came in frame three when Phil Sorfleet put in a dominant display, comfortably defeating Adam Hodgson 66-28 to regain the lead for the Golfers. Ryan Ismay then secured the match for Workington Golf Club with a well-crafted 72-33 victory over Lewis Straughton.
In the final frame, Wayne Sinclair salvaged a point for Vets Club B, battling past Simon Fraser in 51-47 win.
Workington Golf Club move to 32 points, keeping them in the Division 1 title race.
Vets Club B remain at the bottom of Division 2 with 13 points.
Next up, Workington Conservative Club strengthened their position at the top of division 2 with a commanding 4-1 away win over Workington’s United Club B.
The match opened with Alan Moore controlling the first frame to defeat Richard Kirkham 47-10. Julian Plaza followed up with a well-earned 54-26 win over Stephen Jackson, putting Cons firmly in control at 2-0.
United Club B’s only success came in the third frame, where Shane Tallentire played some excellent snooker to defeat David Holland 57-40, briefly giving the hosts hope.
However, Workington Cons quickly shut the door on any comeback as a Ryan Barker contribution of 30 wad enough for him to see off Adam Sowden 57-30, and Brian Kendall put in another strong performance to wrap up the match with a 51-40 win over Andrew Carter.

Workington Cons remain top of Division 2 with 31 points.
United Club B stay mid-table, also in Division 2, with 22 points.
In the next fixture, Maryport Social earned a crucial 3-2 home win over Rack Shack, keeping their promotion hopes alive in Division 2.
The match started with Ben Scott battling to a 66-52 win over Phil Denvir. Andrew Sharp then extended Maryport’s lead, edging past Lee Dougherty in a low scoring 38-28 triumph.
Maryport Social secured victory in the third as Andrew Scott defeated Chris McKelvey 66-42 for 3-0, before Adam Morilla pulled a point back for Rack Shack with a 60-40 victory over Gary Miller.
In the final frame, Neil Dougherty proved victorious over Social Greg Todd 59-36, easing the Rack Shack’s pain and gaining another important point in the process.
Maryport Social move up to 21 points in Division 2 and remain in the race for a top-two finish.
Rack Shack struggle to gain ground, staying on 18 points in Division 2.
