Controversial plans for 164 new homes in Egremont have been given the go-ahead.
Gleeson Homes has been given permission by Cumberland Council to create the new estate on land off Udale View.
In June last year, banners appeared in the town protesting about the development.
It was not known who was behind the banners – but they highlighted worries around an increase in traffic near local schools, concerns over potholes and the homes being built on agricultural land.
The new homes will be built across two fields, last planted in 2022 with cereal crops.
At the time the banners appeared, no official objections had been lodged with Cumberland Council.
Called Castle Meadows, the 19 acre estate will include two, three, four and five-bedroom homes. Prices are due to start from around £189,995 and the development will include 16 affordable homes.

Gleeson said it expected to open its show homes and launch sales towards the end of this year.
The housing developer will contribute over £1 million towards education, £83,000 towards recreational space and over £41,000 on footway improvements as part of its planning permission.
