
After heavy rain and high winds over the weekend, flood alerts are in place for Cumbria.
Flooding of roads and low lying land is possible but property flooding is not expected.
Flood alerts – which mean flood is possible and people should be prepared – have been issued for:
Rivers Duddon, Crake and Mill Beck
Areas most at risk include Rivers Duddon, Crake and Mill Beck and other watercourses, from Coniston to Barrow-in-Furness including low lying areas around Ulpha, Duddon Bridge, Broughton in Furness, Kirkby-in-Furness, Dalton in Furness and Ulverston.
Rivers Brathay, Rothay and Winster
Areas most at risk include Rivers Brathay, Rothay and Winster and other watercourses, from Grasmere to Grange-over-Sands including low lying areas around Ambleside, Skelwith Bridge, Windermere, Hawkshead, Newby Bridge, Backbarrow, Cark and Cartmel.
Upper River Eden
Areas most at risk include River Eden and other watercourses, from Kirkby Stephen to Temple Sowerby including low lying areas around Brough, Warcop, Great Ormside and Appleby.
Rivers Ehen, Calder, Irt and Esk
Areas most at risk include Rivers Ehen, Calder, Irt and Esk and other watercourses, from Harrington to Annaside including low lying areas around Whitehaven, Cleator Moor, Egremont, Gosforth, Eskdale and Bootle.
Upper River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck and Derwentwater
Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the Upper River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck and Derwentwater, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around The Upper Derwent from Seathwaite to Derwentwater.
Rivers Caldew and Petteril
Areas most at risk include Rivers Caldew and Petteril from the Lakeland Fells to Carlisle including Greystoke, Newton Reigny, Plumpton, Stockdalewath, Sebergham and Denton Holme in Carlisle.
Lower River Eden
Areas most at risk include River Eden and its tributaries from its confluence with the River Irthing through Crosby-on-Eden and Carlisle to the Solway Firth at Rockcliffe.
