A Lake District distillery has scooped two national awards.
Grasmere Distillery has won two awards for its vodka and gin in The People’s Choice Spirit Awards in association with The Buyer.
The glamorous awards ceremony was held earlier this week at New Century in Manchester, where the finalists learned who would be awarded bronze, silver, and gold medals in each category.
Grasmere Distillery picked up the bronze medal in the Vodka: Easy Weekday category for its Sugar Beet Vodka and also collected the bronze medal in the Gin: Out of the Ordinary category for its Grasmere Dry Gin.
Grasmere Distillery co-founder and head distiller Paul Abbot said: “Collecting two national awards for the white spirits we produce is pretty amazing.

“They are a fitting tribute to the hard work, attention to detail and above all the care we take in producing each of the grain-to-glass spirits we make from scratch.
“We’re a distinctively different distillery, that’s heading in the right direction, our unique climate-friendly, grain-to-glass ethos is gaining traction and further helping to put handcrafted quality spirits on Cumbria’s food and drink map.’’
The judges are drawn from a mix of industry professionals, including respected buyers, drinks journalists and sommeliers, as well as consumers and Wine & Spirit Education Trust students studying for a range of qualifications, tasted their way through each category.
Winners are chosen from all 21 spirit award categories by ranking each spirit against a stringent set of criteria including aroma and flavour, balance and quality, suitability for the category and value for money.
