A talk about heat pumps will be held at Lorton’s Yew Tree Hall later this month.
The Melbreak Communities, a community group comprising the four parishes of Lorton, Loweswater, Buttermere and Blindbothel, has organised the event, which will take place on Monday, March 31.
The group runs a net zero project which has been working with Cumbria Action for Sustainability, and have been involved in projects such as thermal imagery to assess heat loss in the homes of local residents.
Aine Kelly, who is a member of the net zero project, said: “Our group is enthusiastic about heat pumps and believe that they are an energy efficient, low carbon way to heat your home.
“However, there are many myths and misconceptions about them. So this talk, given by Rich Clarke and Martin Overy from Greenfields in Penrith, who are specialists in renewable heating systems, will try to give the real picture.
“It will cover everything from how heat pumps work, their benefits, the new generation of heat pumps, insulation requirements, costs and government grants available.
The talk will be held at the Yew Tree Hall, Lorton, at 7.30pm. Teas and coffees will be available from 7.15pm and the meeting will finish at 9pm.
