Kendal Farmers’ Market food school will return this spring.

The monthly food school brings together producers, food enthusiasts, and curious visitors on the second Friday of each month.

Visitors to the market will have the opportunity to learn how to prepare fresh, local ingredients as producers and stallholders from the market take to the stage, share insider tips and skills and enjoy conversations about food, provenance, and flavour.

The food school sessions take place on the second Friday of the month in Kendal’s Market Place.

During each of the scheduled sessions, marketgoers will have the opportunity to learn how to prepare fresh, local ingredients as producers and stallholders from the market share insider tips and skills.

Each session is entirely about building relationships and connections.

It involves flavourful conversations where visitors meet the faces behind the produce they buy.

Producers also have the opportunity to share some of their knowledge and insight along the way and celebrate what they do day in and day out.

The timetable for April, May and June is:

  • Noon – Piper Hole Goat Farm – Frank Hunter will chat every aspect of goat’s cheese production
  • 1pm – Black Horse Flowers – Jude Ashton will share some of her knowledge around growing seasonal plants and flowers and the importance of soil and flower miles.

Peter Gott, acting chair of Kendal Farmers’ Market, said: “Our first food school was a huge success, becoming a popular part of our farmers market offer.

“This year’s exciting programme will feature a whole host of fabulous artisan makers and producers who will share some of their insider hints and tips to help you get the best out of the fresh produce you buy directly from them.

“So now you’ve got the dates and the line-up from April to June there’s no excuse not to head along and join us at Kendal Farmers’ Market food school and discover why everything the stallholders create has an amazing story behind it.’’
