Cockermouth Chamber of Trade members were among the people helping to clean up the mess following the incident

An appeal has been issued by police this week for information about damage caused to planters in a West Cumbrian town earlier this month.

Two men were seen pushing the planters on Main Street in Cockermouth in the early hours of March 8.

Their actions resulted in compost and flowers being spilt onto the road.

One man was described as having short dark hair, of a skinny build and was wearing blue jeans and a dark jumper.

The second man was described as having short dark hair, of a medium build, wearing dark jeans and a dark jumper.

Anyone with information relating to this incident can report online at www.cumbria.police.uk/report-it quoting incident number 146 of 10th March 2025 or call 101.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

  • After the incident, Cockermouth Chamber of Trade were among the townsfolk who rallied round to clean up the mess.
