Here is your opportunity to help keep the trains on track across the Cumbrian fells and Yorkshire Dales.

Network Rail is recruiting for a range of operative and technician roles in its track team, who will be be based in one of its depots in Appleby and Horton in Ribblesdale.

As part of the role, you will undertake inspection, faulting, track maintenance and track renewal.

An operative is the first step in a track maintenance career but there are progression opportunities into technician then team leader roles and above.

You will be enrolled on a 12 to 18-month training programme, which involves classroom and practical hands-on learning experiences.

You will also be partnered with an experienced member of staff to help aid your training.

Once this training has been completed, you will have gained the experience and training required to progress to a technician role and beyond.

We want all our people to feel empowered to succeed. We provide solid training and development opportunities to enhance your knowledge, increase your confidence, and enable you to achieve your career ambitions.

And, as we continue to grow and become more technologically advanced, we’ll also make sure you’ve all the skills you need to meet the exciting challenges that lie ahead.

Salary for the roles start at £30,351.

On Monday April 14 at 2pm, Network Rail will host a live Q&A session via Microsoft Teams to talk about the fast-track operative scheme and jobs available in the Lancashire & Cumbria area within the track maintenance teams.

You will have the chance to talk to our experienced track managers to find out more about the job roles we have available, details of what track maintenance involves, day-to-day activities and answer any other questions you may have!
