An investigation is underway after a man displayed ‘threatening behaviour’ to youngsters on a South Cumbrian skate park.

Barrow Police said they were contacted on Tuesday evening about the incident at the skate park on Mill Lane, Walney.

The man was described as an adult with a face covering, dressed in black, and had appeared from nearby bushes.

Barrow Police said enquiries were ongoing today.

Officers were at the skate park yesterday morning and Barrow police said it was to gather evidence around the identity of the person responsible and provide reassurance to those attending the park with their children.

Barrow Police added: “We have liaised closely with the family of the children involved, and we will continue with our live investigations.

“We are aware of much social media interaction around this incident and clearly we understand the community’s concerns.

“Please continue to share any information you feel may assist the police investigation, however we would ask speculation is avoided regarding potential further incidents, descriptions etc as this could mislead our dedicated enquiries.

“Please be assured these incidents are extremely rare for our area, we want children and families to enjoy the nice weather during the Easter break, and we will continue to show a visible presence by way of reassurance.”

Anyone with information about Tuesday’s incident is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log reference CP-20250408-0226, or alternatively call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
