Carlisle Library has reopened.
The library was forced to close suddenly and completely from April 19. Cumberland Council said it was due to a serious building issue.
The authority said today, Tuesday, April 22, it was due to a faulty valve on a newly installed boiler in the venue.
The library, part of the Lanes Shopping Centre, is undergoing a £3.3 million revamp and parts are closed while the work continues. The revamp is expected to be completed early next year.
Cumberland Council said: “Library staff, alongside contractors Krol-Corlett, worked throughout the bank holiday weekend to resolve the issue and ensure the library could reopen as scheduled this morning.
“We are grateful to the dedicated team at Carlisle Library and to Krol-Corlett for their efforts in addressing the matter.”
