
A tip-off to police led to the arrest of a suspected drunk driver in Carlisle.
On Thursday, officers received a call that a woman, suspected of being under the influence, had gotten into a car and driven off.
They traced the car to the woman’s home address in Harraby and found that the car had been backed into a parked vehicle.
The woman was arrested at 7.30pm after she failed a breath test for alcohol.
She was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and released under investigation to allow time for blood test results.
Earlier on Thursday, police arrested a man after he had driven his vehicle into the rear of a tanker on the M6 at junction 41.
The incident happened at at around 11.50am.
He was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, drug driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.
He was released under investigation to allow time for further enquiries, including blood test results.
And at 2.30pm on the same day, officers stopped a car in the area of Crooklands, south of Endmoor, near Kendal.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, driving while disqualified and possession of cannabis.
He was released under investigation to allow time for further enquiries, including blood test results.
