Two men have been jailed for drugs offences after police raided a property in Carlisle.

Carlisle City West Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out the raid in July 2023 and found a quantity of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Mark Worby, 55, of Newcastle Street, Carlisle, was sentenced to two years and four months for being concerned in supply of cocaine and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

Ryan Worby, 23, of no fixed address, Carlisle was sentenced to two years and four months for being concerned in supply of cocaine.

Both pleaded guilty to the offences.

Following the warrant officers located the pair in the property on Newcastle Street, a search of the property was carried out.

Officers located a safe containing wraps of white powder confirmed as cocaine, as well as other wraps in the house, a significant amount of cash and drug paraphernalia, including scales.

A search of a vehicle belonging to Mark Worby was carried out where officers found an extendable baton, similar to that used by police, which was seized.

Officers also found two phones belonging to the pair.

Examinations showed conversations between the two, showing their involvement in the supply of drugs discussing deals and communicating with other contacts.

Investigating officer DC Patrick Browitt said “The warrant and the result was made possible by information provided from the community.

“We rely on the community to be our eyes and ears, so we can challenge the use and supply of drugs.

“We have contempt for the act of criminality, which has no place in our communities.

“If you suspect criminality is taking place in your neighbourhood then we want to hear from you so we can take action.”
