The Forty Farms Fair returns next month to Rheged, near Penrith.
The event, in partnership with Kendal Farmers Market, will take place on Saturday July 5.
New for this event are a selection of seasonal talks from Beetham Nurseries, Westmorland Kitchen’s chefs, milling and grain growing with nationally recognised bakery Lovingly Artisan and a talk and film Woman Grows Jeans, about a community reshaping the future of fashion by growing a pair of jeans from scratch using flax and indigo.
The free family-friendly event will bring together over 40 local producers and makers to celebrate the creativity and craftsmanship of local producers in Cumbria.
Spread across both indoor and outdoor spaces at Rheged, visitors can browse a mix of seasonal produce, artisan cheeses, handmade gifts, plants, sweet treats, fresh meats, and small-batch brews – all proudly produced in the region.
Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the makers and try a range of produce from Gan Yam Brewery, Ginger Bakers, Legendary Sauce Co., and Torpenhow Cheese.
New exhibitors joining the line-up this time are Beetham Nurseries with a range of plants for sale. Also new to the fair is award-winning Smokey Barrel Jerky, created by The Smokey Barrel, offering a range of handcrafted jerky, rubs, and seasonings – all produced in their own smokehouse.
Another artist joining the fair for the first time is Amelia Benson, Rheged’s Kintsugi tutor. Ameila will demonstrate the art of gilding, offering a preview of her upcoming creative workshop at Rheged on September 27.
Claire Logan-Stephens, head of programming at Rheged, said: “Each Forty Farms Fair offers something fresh and inspiring, bringing together artisans, makers and food producers deeply rooted in Cumbria’s landscape.
“This July, we’re excited to highlight everything from sustainable fashion to local gardening expertise in our programme of free talks and demos, alongside a fantastic selection of stalls that showcase the talent and quality produce of our region.
“It’s a perfect day out for food lovers, families, garden enthusiasts, and anyone passionate about shopping local.”
The Forty Farms Fair is free to attend, with free parking, and will run from 10am to 3pm at Rheged, near Penrith.
