People are invited to have their say about speed limits on the new Carlisle Southern Link Road.
As work progresses on the scheme, Cumberland Council is reviewing the legislation around speed limits for it and its connecting routes.
The announcement marks the beginning of an initial public engagement period ahead of a formal statutory consultation, which will be advertised in due course, the authority said.
Cumberland Councillor Denise Rollo, executive member for sustainable, resilient and connected places, said: “Whether you drive the route daily or just care about safety in your community, your voice matters. This is more than just setting speed limits, it’s about shaping how people live, travel, and connect across our region.
“It only takes a couple of minutes to take part, but it could influence these roads for decades to come.”
Key proposals include:
- National Speed Limit along the full Carlisle Southern Link Road route
- Adjustments to 30mph and 40mph speed limits at key locations including:
- Newby West roundabout
- Cummersdale roundabout
- Durdar roundabout
- Redcat roundabout
- Brisco roundabout
