World Champion Bartosz Zmarzlik edged out Belle Vue captain Brady Kurtz in a thrilling climax to Grand Prix weekend in Manchester on Saturday.

Zmarzlik showed why he is a five-time title winner as he switched brilliantly inside Kurtz heading into the second lap of the final which wrapped up a memorable GP double header at the National Speedway Stadium in front of a sold-out crowd.

The Polish superstar’s record-extending 29th GP win took him 11 points clear of Kurtz in the 2025 standings, with the Australian doing well to again reach the podium despite a heavy crash with Fredrik Lindgren earlier in the meeting which left him requiring treatment afterwards.

Former Wolves and Birmingham racer Lindgren was third with Sheffield No.1 Jack Holder fourth, but Great Britain’s Dan Bewley was unable to repeat his Friday heroics as he went out in the Last Chance Qualifier.

Zmarzlik, who last won a British GP at Cardiff back in 2018, said: “Winning here is unbelievable because I had many questions before the rounds in Manchester, but I feel amazing because I am on top of the podium again in Britain.

“It feels really nice. I have a new record – 29 wins is unbelievable. I am really proud about this.”

Lindgren added: “I battled hard, and I wish I could have done more in the final.

“I am a little bit sick and tired of losing to Bartosz all the time, but he is super good, and Brady is in super form this year as well. I am still playing a bit of catch-up, and it is a good fight.”

Bewley slips from third to fifth in the overall standings on 61 points but 15 points clear of 6th placed Andzejs Lebedevs
