A man has been injured by a knife in an assault on a Workington street.
The man, in his 40s, sustained knife wounds to his arm and hands during the incident, which happened on Devonshire Street at around noon today, Tuesday July 8.
It was reported that he was assaulted by another man and the victim has been taken to hospital.
Police said an investigation has been launched and enquiries are being carried out in the area.
John Street has been cordoned off.
As a result, people may see a higher than normal police presence, Cumbria police said.
This was an isolated incident, with no ongoing risk to the public, Cumbria Constabulary added.
