Driver seriously injured in road rage assault in South Cumbria

A driver has been seriously injured in a road rage assault in South Cumbria.

Police closed the A590 near Witherslack following the incident yesterday, Sunday July 13.

Officers were called at around 3.50pm with a report that a man had been assaulted after an altercation between two drivers.

A man, in his 50s, has been taken to Royal Preston Hospital with serious injuries.

A 27-year-old man, from Wigan, has been arrested on suspicion of assault GBH.

Police said they were investigating the full circumstances of the incident and are appealing for witnesses to the incident to contact them.

It is reported that there was a collision between two vehicles, a red Peugeot 208 and a yellow VW Transporter, prior to the incident.

The road has reopened.
