
Time is running out for people to have their say on a new batch of proposed 20mph speed limit schemes.
The first phase of the 20mph programme will see 20 community-backed schemes rolled out in the Westmorland & Furness area this summer, the council is inviting feedback on 24 additional areas proposed in the initiative’s second year.
Westmorland & Furness Council said he prioritised schemes were put forward from within their communities and only those with clear community backing will go forward.
The consultation closes this Friday, July 18.
The schemes being consulted on are:
Furness area
- Cows Tarn Lane, Walney Island
- In the area of Cambridge Primary School
- In the area of Dane Ghyll Primary School
- In the area of Newbarns Primary School
- In the area of Ramsden Infant School
- In the area of St Paul’s Junior School
- In the area of Victoria Infant and Nursery School
- In the area of Victoria Junior School
- In the area of Walney School, Sandy Gap Lane, Walney Island
Eden area
- Clifton
- Gamblesby
- Glassonby
- Great Asby
- Greystoke
- Penrith
- Sockbridge and Tirril
- Stainton
South Lakes area
- Cartmel
- Greenodd and Penny Bridge
- Heversham
- Ings
- Kendal
- Levens
- Milnthorpe
- Satterthwaite
A further 27 eligible requests for 20mph limits received as a part of the initial application process have been accepted, the council said, and will be consulted on for the third and final year of the programme.

Paper copies of the consultation and scheme proposals are available for completion in Barrow, Grange, Kendal, Milnthorpe, Ormsgill Link, Penrith, Ulverston and Walney libraries.
Local parish and town councils have also arranged for them to be available in select public buildings within their communities.
