An Ulverston restaurant is set to have its licence reviewed next week after concerns were raised about it.
A visit to the Blue Elephant on Queen Street by council officials, police and fire officers has prompted the review.
Formerly known as Lala Spice, the visit found that the restaurant had faulty CCTV, poor record keeping, a fire alarm system that appeared not to be maintained, a lack of recorded staff training and no age verification.
The review application was made under the Licensing Objectives of the Prevention of Crime and Disorder and Public Safety as a result.
The venue’s licence will be discussed by Westmorland & Furness Council’s licensing sub-committee on Tuesday, August 5.
The committee can modify the licence, remove the designated premises supervisor, suspend the licence, revoke the licence, exclude a licensable activity or take no action.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, Cumbria police and Westmorland and Furness Council’s environmental protection team have made submissions for the committee to consider.
The Home Office’s immigration team were also contacted but had no additional representations or information to add to the review, however wanted to extend their support to the review initiated by partner agencies.
Immigration officers made two arrests at the restaurant earlier this year.
