Penrith have lost four Northern League points through having to settle for two draws after holding 2-0 leads.
Last night they had a 2-1 advantage at Pickering in the FA Cup but goals in the 83rd and 95th minutes won it for the home side.
It was a very disappointed Penrith squad and management team who made their way home after seeing their FA Cup hopes dashed at the first hurdle.
They had made a slow start and conceded a goal on 11 minutes by George Brown before getting to grips with the contest and starting to dominate.
A superb team goal, finished by Jamie Armstrong on 33 minutes, put them level and Pickering were fortunate to go in all square.
When Connor Shields headed in a cross from the outstanding Connor Hammill on 75 minutes it looked as though Penrith would be going through.
But once again they couldn’t see it through. Keeper Lewis Boyd had to make a brilliant save to keep them ahead before they allowed Joe Wood to go through seven minutes from time and equalise.
It was looking like a replay until the fifth minute of time added on when Jordan Hines flicked home a cross from a disputed free kick.
