Kendal Calling festival-goers have raised £14,000 for Annie Mawson’s Sunbeams Music Trust.
This year was the first time the charity, based in Eden, had visited the festival, near Penrith.
Festival-goers at the event donated the cash last weekend and the charity thanked festival directors Andy Smith and Ben Robinson, for their support.
Sunbeams delivers community music therapy to over 2,000 local disabled and disadvantaged children and adults each month.
Jules Blundell, fundraiser for the charity, said: It’s more than raising money – it’s about raising awareness, the conversations we’ve had over the weekend have just shown how many people believe in music being a force of healing, wellbeing, good health, inclusivity and bringing people together.
“Thank you also to all the community who came to say hello and support and visited the Sunbeams gazebo.”
The funds raised will allow the charity’s eight specialised musicians to continue to deliver Music for Life and Music for Dignity sessions at the Sunbeams Music Centre, over 50 care homes and day centres and online.
