Veteran fancier Billy Cottier is having a good run in the new Midweek Members Club.
A training exercise on Saturday, which was organised specifically for later bred youngsters and ones that were behind in the programme, had a competitive edge to it.
Billy, 93, of Whitehaven is Cumbria’s oldest active fancier won the £60 nom and a bag of beans.
He followed that up yesterday by winning the official club race from Garstang again, heading the south section, with a prize of £25.
The main club winner was in the north section with Jason Dempsey of Maryport dominating again and taking £25 as well as the £90 nom.
Club founder Peter Bewsher said: “We’ve had fantastic returns which is what we set out to do.
“Our convoyer John McNichol continues to do a sterling job and has kindly donated two tubs of Vanrobeays super grit for next week’s winner.
“Thanks also to our new race controller Gary Holliday who absolutely nailed getting our birds home safely.”
