Barrow are among five clubs still seeking their first point of the season after two games.
The Furness side went down 2-0 at home to MK Dons so as well as the first point they are also seeking their first goal of the new campaign.
After a goal-less first half the visitors won it with goals in the 75rd and 81st minutes.
MK Dons had been the more likely side to score in the first 45 minutes but were let down by some poor finishing or by some good work by Barrow keeper Wyll Stanway.
There was no denying that the Dons deserved their lead when it came in the second half.
Alex Gilbey made the crucial breakthrough when he anticipated well to get himself on the end of a Callum Paterson knock down and steer the ball past Stanway.
The visitors were able to make certain of the spoils when a shot from Joe Tomlinson was blocked and the rebound fell to Paterson on the edge of the area and he drilled the ball home.
The visitors actually had a goal disallowed in the early stages when Rushian Hepburn-Murphy capitalised on a poor back pass.
He went roundf Stanway to slot home but the assistant’s flag was raised for the ball previously going out of play.
Barrow, although generally secure at the back, created little and the best chance fell to Ben Jackson who was close to giving them the lead.
MK Dons also had another opportunity when good work by Gilbey sent Nathaniel Mendez-Laing in on goal but Stanway pulled off another top-class stop.
Barrow will now look to get their season up and running on Tuesday when they host Preston in the League Cup.
