A new Community Beat Office has joined the South Lakes Neighbourhood Policing Team.

PC Sandra Hamilton will be covering the Ambleside and Windermere area, working alongside PCSOs Debbie Ross and Sarah Blacow.

PC Hamilton has spent the last four years of her career at Cumbria police as a response officer in Barrow and Kendal.

She will work with residents, business owners and partners to tackle and prevent issues such as anti-social behaviour.

PC Hamilton said: “I’ve already had a great start last Monday, getting to know the area and some of you.

“For the past four years, I’ve been working in Barrow and Kendal and this experience has given me a deep understanding of the policing challenges in our region, and I’m looking forward to applying that knowledge to this new role.”

She said her main priorities were:

  • Tackling anti-social behaviour
  • Being visible and accessible
  • Building strong relationships with the community members and local organisations
  • Identifying and addressing local issues before they escalate
