Heavy traffic is being reported on the A595 as strike action continues at Sellafield.
Cumbria Police and the Civil Nuclear Constabulary have been working to reduce congestion around the site’s North Gate, Blackbeck roundabout, Calderbridge and by Jacksons Timber Yard on the road.
Traffic around these areas is now free flowing – but congestion elsewhere along the A595 is still being reported.
Officers said they are working to alleviate traffic on the A595 and surrounding area.
Main gate and Calder gate are also open and traffic is flowing well. Drivers are asked to use these gates where possible.
Drivers are also being asked to allow plenty of time for journeys in the area and on the A595 over the next few hours.
Strike action is expected to last until Friday August 15.
