A new wave of fully funded business support is now open to Cumbrian businesses through the Cumbria Accelerator programme.

Cumbria businesses can now access free, expert support through the 2025/26 Cumbria Accelerator programme.

This fully funded package includes one-to-one advice, grant guidance and practical workshops, all designed to help your business take the next step.

Run by Enterprising Cumbria (the successor to Cumbria LEP), the programme supports businesses at every stage, from solo freelancers to established SMEs.

It’s helped over 700 Cumbrian businesses grow in the last year alone.

Support shaped around your business

“Cumbria Accelerator is built around the real-world needs of Cumbrian businesses,” said Paul Foster, Head of Programmes at Enterprising Cumbria.

“Whether you want to grow your customer base, develop a new product or build your leadership skills, the support is there to help you move forward.”

The programme offers one-to-one business advice and practical workshops covering finance, marketing, digital transformation and innovation.

Grants are also available for eligible businesses, including non-repayable start-up funding and growth grants to support new projects.

“What sets this programme apart is the mix of personal advice and action-focused support,” added Paul. “It is tailored to your stage of business and shaped around what you need to succeed.”

This year’s campaign runs under the banner Your business. Accelerated. and encourages more businesses to take up the support now available.

The programme is open to businesses across Cumbria, with targeted support available for freelancers, early-stage start-ups, growing SMEs and established firms.

Real stories, real results

Last year, more than 700 businesses took part in the programme. Many reported greater confidence, better systems and stronger sales as a result.

One of them is Hideaway Nails & Beauty in Barrow.

Owner Kamila Kozlowska wanted to grow her home-based nail salon into a full-service beauty business.

She received one-to-one advice through Cumbria Accelerator to plan her move, understand the hiring process and promote her services.

“The advice was clear and manageable. It gave me the confidence to take the next step,” said Kamila.

She has now launched her new salon and hired her first employee.

“It feels incredibly empowering and motivating,” she added. “I’m so much more confident about growing my business.”
