Whatever happens in the next month, Hensingham will finish the season as Cumbria’s most successful National Conference side.
Kris Coward’s side are the only county team pushing for play-off qualification as they battle for a second successive promotion.
They beat relegation-threatened Thornhill Trojans 44-20 to complete a double over the Dewsbury side.
With three game to play Hensingham are in the final play-off position for Division Two and three points clear of the nearest challengers.
The Trojans only brought 14 players with them to West Cumbria which made their task even tougher.
But in a symmetrical game of rugby both sides scored the same number of points in each half – 22 and 10.
Adam Williamson and Miller Dalton scored two tries apiece for the hosts with other touchdown from Luke Charlton, Ben Pearce, Mike Maudling and Jordan Pritt.
Williamson also landed six goals.
Unfortunately Ellenborough Rangers are now officially on the way back to Division Three.
Although they battled really well at Clock Face Miners, the 22-12 defeat in St. Helens confirms their relegation.
It was a brave effort as they led 10-0 at the break and with 15 minutes left it was 12-12.
Niall Gray and Louis Fearon scored first-half tries, one converted by Brett Stevenson who added a second-half penalty.
Barrow Island went down 36-18 at Skirlaugh with the home win vital in their battle to avoid the drop.
Consolation in defeat for the Islanders was the fact that in hooker Finley Dutton-Rosconie they had the best player on the field.
He cored a couple of tries and added three conversions, with the other touchdown from prop Carl McBain.
In the Premier Division any remote concerns Wath Brow may have had about being dragged into a relegation fight were dispelled by a 30-8 home win over already doomed Dewsbury Moor.
It was only 14-6 at half-time but the Hornets pulled away convincingly in the second half.
Cooper Howard (2), Morgan McCourt, Clarke Riley, Devan Sharp and Matty Creasey scored the tries.
Their former player Cole Walker-Taylor, back on dual registration from Workington Town, kicked three goals.
Cumbria’s two representatives in Division One both lost, but are virtually safe just above the bottom three.
Kells went down 18-10 at home to promotion-chasing Ince Rose Bridge while Egremont lost 40-10 at another play-off side Shaw Cross Sharks.
Kells trailed 12-0 at half-time and although they scored the last points of the game they couldn’t change the outcome.
Oscar Cook and David Lowery scored the tries with Blaine Graham adding a conversion.
It was only 16-10 at half-time in Egremont’s game against the Sharks. But they were bitten after the resumption with Shaw Cross scoring 24 unanswered points,
Tom Houghton and Dillon Scott scored the Egremont tries with Houghton converting one.
Distington got back to winning ways in Division Three with a 26-18 win over Milford, who must now seek re-election.
Scott Rooke led the home charge by scoring four tries and also crossing were Phil Lister and Jesse Joe Parker. Scott George added one goal.
Millom were well beaten 54-6 at Saddleworth and had trailed 48-0 before getting on the score-sheet.
Daniel Hartley scored the Woollybacks try and Lee Butterworth added the extras.
