Barrow slipped to their fourth defeat in five games when they lost 1-0 at Harrogate last night.
By contrast Shawn McCoulsky’s winning goal extended the Sulphurites’ unbeaten start to the League Two season.
Three of Barrow’s defeats have come in the league, with the fourth an exit from the Carabao League Cup.
McCoulsky had every reason to celebrate his winner as it was his first senior goal since December 2017.
Although a forward he hasn’t registered on the scoresheet since he as on loan with Newport County from Bristol City and actually contributed six goals in 26 games for the Welsh side.
He has spent a large part of his career in non-league and before joining Harrogate played 120 games for Maidenhead where he netted 26 goals and alerted Harrogate of his potential.
The goal came on 29 minutes when Stephen Duke-McKenna dispossessed Charlie Raglan near halfway and dashed down the left wing before slipping McCoulsky in on goal.
The 28-year-old didn’t waste the opportunity as he guided a low shot past goalkeeper Wyll Stanway who was coming out to try and close him down.
Duke-McKenna almost created a second for Ellis Taylor but a cracking shot came back off the bar.
Town should have made it 2-0 early in the second half when Reece Smith hit the post after being put through against Stanway by McCoulsky.
Second best for the bulk of the game Barrow rallied in the final quarter and had a great opportunity to level but Tyler Walker shot high over the bar.
Then Rhys Healy, who once cost two million pounds in a transfer from Watford to Huddersfield, had a cracking effort deflected just wide.
Healy has joined on loan from the Terriers.
